DNS security

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system built on a distributed database for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network.

Security regarding DNS is not a new issue,  but even though there are security updates and available options like DNSec there are still 33% of the total DNS server spoofable.(according to SANS)

IPv6 and DNSec are some of the best forms to secure the DNS server to this date. Common types of attacks are Protocol Attacks & Servers Attacks.

Detailed overview of this can be found at:  http://www.sans.org/reading_room/whitepapers/dns/security-issues-dns_1069

I chose this overview as i wanted to read about security and wanted to see why is DNSec used and what DNS vulnerabilities exist. I consider this to be valuable information for basic understanding of issues regarding DNS security.
